Judy is a proud alumna of the Regina V. Polk Women’s Labor Leadership Program and the University of Illinois Global Labor Studies Program. She cut her teeth in the Labor Movement during her 3 decades tenure at Morris Library and the Special Collections Research Center, Southern Illinois University. She sits on several boards, including the Polk Advisory Board, Illinois Labor History Society Board of Trustees and the Mother Jones Heritage Project Board of Trustees. She has taught at the Midwest School for Women Workers as well as providing trainings within her Union.

To preserved the everyday struggles of working people and the Labor Movement, Judy began Voices of Labor, an oral history project. Her recordings are held by the Special Collections Research Center, Southern Illinois University and the Smithsonian. Her work on this project was included in the inaugural traveling exhibit of the Way We Worked by the Smithsonian’s Museum on Main Street.
